VFW membership is approximately 2 million strong. In addition to seven U.S. Presidents, VFW has a long history of members representing all walks of life. As one might expect with such a large base, VFW members represent a cross-section of the American people. From elderly veterans to 20-year-old active duty troops, VFW welcomes every qualified veteran into its ranks. Since 1899, we've been a well-respected part of the community. in Foreign Wars World War II
  • European-African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal
  • American Campaign Medal
  • American Defense Service Medal
Others:
  • China Service Medal
  • Korean Service Medal
  • Vietnam Service Medal
  • Southwest Asia Service Medal
  • Kosovo Campaign Medal
Occupation Duty
  • Army of Occupation Medal
  • Navy Occupation Service Medal
Expeditionary Campaigns
  • Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
  • Navy Expeditionary Medal
  • Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal
Badges and Ribbons
  • Combat Action Ribbon

Korea Duty
  • 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days on the Korean Peninsula or in territorial waters since June 30, 1949
Hostile Fire or Imminent Danger Pay
  • Hostile Fire Pay ("event-based" pay) replaced Combat Pay in 1963. In 1983, its parameters were expanded.
  • Imminent Danger Pay is "treat-based" pay and was issued often during the 1990's.
